Abhanga Tukaram (2025)

"Abhanga Tukaram" is a Marathi drama film biopic that elegantly depicts the life and spiritual odyssey of the 17th-century saint poet Sant Tukaram Maharaj. The film explores his intense devotion to Lord Panduranga and his employment of poetry (Abhangas) to propagate social reform, equality, and spiritual awakening. It showcases Tukaram's compassion, indomitable willpower, and faith despite society ostracizing him, family troubles, and persecution by envious priests such as Mumbaji Gosavi. Aided by his loving wife Avali, Tukaram's tale comprises divine interventions, sublime meetings with Emperor Shivaji, and final spiritual victory as he attains Vaikuntha. Directed by Digpal Lanjekar, the film has Sameer Dharmadhikari, Mrinal Kulkarni, Yogesh Soman, and Smita Shewale in lead roles among others.
